We talked to a young fellow who has been working in the oilfields for 5 summers now and asked what to expect on your first couple of days at work. ” It’s a different work attitude. Not sure where everything is and you can feel the fast pace. Once you settle into your job, they guys/gals make you feel like family. These guys will show you the ropes and make it fun to. It reminds me a lot like college. The best thing is your getting paid great money.” While talking I can see the fun pranks they pull on one person. One of their employees always misplaces theys keys to one of the trucks all the time, so they showed him a way of remembering. They tide a 9 foot beam to the end of the key and placed it in the ground. He climbed the beam to get the key down while staff and bosses cheered him on. It shows that you might not get into trouble always losing the keys, but they will sure try to help you remember them for next time. I have to admit is was quite funny.

It’s not all fun and games here, but I can see they need to make it fun to break up a long days of work. “We all look forward to our days off for sure. We try to go to the closest town for a couple of drinks and unwind. This is also a great way to get to know each person out side of work. To this day, I am still friends with a couple of guys I worked with 3 years ago and was invited to his wedding.”

It shows you working in the oil fields is not just about the great money you can make and all the benefits, but the people you meet and the experiences. Take your time when applying, and check out all job postings.

BP announced on Monday that they will be recruiting summer students to help with the oil spill clean up in the Gulf. The pay is to start around the $20.00 per hour US with NO benefits. They will supply accommodations, meals and uniform. This was release after BP went online to say they are “sorry” with what had happened. Now they are putting their money where it should go to, the clean up. If you are going to apply for a BP clean up, be careful of all the scams that are out there. They will never ask you to pay upfront for any training. There are about 50 companies trying to offer clean up work and they are not licensed. We will post all links of jobs available on our site.

The site to be added is for ground help including: Drivers, supplies, traffic, operations and more. The jobs that we post will be for jobs that require no experience needed. On site training will be provided. The list of jobs, pay, benefits and location will be posted beside each job. The contact information and requirements (age, tax papers) will be provided by each employer. Remember to read all the print in the contract before signing.

This recent closure won’t effect shops in the West. While most of the people working there were up for retirement anyways. Only exec. positions have been transfer to the West and in Texas.

BP is now saying that there is not enough work for people to help clean up the spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Talking to our people in the oil industry, there are tons of jobs that are offered by the state. If you don’t want to work with the oil companies, there are a lot of companies that are hiring for the clean up. We are not allowed to list these companies as we are a site mainly for finding jobs in the oil industry. The net will post lists of companies that are offering this type of work. I hear the start pay is around $12.00 US per hour.

Taking a tour of the accommodations of an offshore oil rig was quite interesting. They really want to make their staff feel like there at a 5 star resort. I guess they would have to because what else is there to do out in the ocean. Talking to some staff members, they say it has to be nice or they will lose their minds. They have hot tubs, pool tables, basketball courts, running area, gym and most important of all, the kitchen. The chefs on board cook a meal made for a King, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack time.

If you decide to work on the offshore rigs, you will be more than happy with your surroundings. Remember one thing, your still there to get work done. The pay will be well worth it.
